Nepalgunj-Rupaidiya border point resumes operation

NEPALGUNJ: The Nepalgunj-Rupaidiya border point, which was closed by the Indian side yesterday, has resumed normal operations since this morning.

A total of 25 trucks laden with goods, of both Nepali and Indian number plates, have entered Nepal from the southern neighbourhood while more than 50 trucks have entered India from Nepal, Sub Inspector Bishnu Giri of the Area Police Office, Jamunaha informed.

"There is no tension in the border point and the vehicles are crossing the border easily,"Giri said.

The Indian side had closed the Rupaidiya entry point near Nepalgunj on Monday.

As per sources of the area police office Jamunaha, Sasastra Sima Bal personnel on the Indian side did not allow the vehicles to enter Nepal citing directives from higher up.
