KATHMANDU, MAY 21

Nepali mountaineer Tenzing David Sherpa has completed the rare Triple Crown achievement, summiting Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,516m) and Nuptse (7,861m) in under five days in the same season, according to Dawa Steven Sherpa, Managing Director at Asian Trekking Pvt Ltd. Tenzing summitted Nuptse on May 17, Everest on May 20 and Lhotse on May 21.

The feat places Tenzing David among a handful of climbers worldwide to have completed the Triple Crown in a single season.

Dawa Steven, who is also Tenzing David's elder brother, said the achievement was made more remarkable by the circumstances surrounding it. Tenzing David had not originally planned or prepared for the challenge but stepped in at short notice to take over the organisation of rope-fixing on Nuptse and lead clients safely across all three peaks within a constrained timeframe.

Tenzing David Sherpa is the Director of Asian Trekking, Nepal's oldest trekking and expedition operator, founded by their father Ang Tshering Sherpa in 1981, and also serves as Managing Director of Himalayan Chain Resort and The Terraces Resort and Spa. A physiotherapist by training, he graduated cum laude from Ghent University with a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy in 2012.
