NC lawmakers question deal with CK Raut
Kathmandu March 11
Lawmakers of the main opposition Nepali Congress said in the federal Parliament today that the deal signed on Friday between the government and Independence Madhes Alliance had created ambiguity due to different interpretations of ‘people’s opinion’ and ‘referendum’.
Nepali Congress Chief Whip Balkrishna Khand and Whip Pushpa Bhusal Gautam from the House of Representative and National Assembly opposition leader Surendra Raj Pandey and Chief Whip Sarita Prasai jointly made a statement saying nobody can reach agreement and consensus on territorial integrity, sovereignty, Nepal’s independence, national unity and dignity.
NC lawmakers said the demonstration taken out with ‘Free Madhes’ placards, banners and slogans by supporters of CK Raut in Janakpur yesterday had created serious negative impact on national unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty. “Both signatories should be honest and express common views, but the pact has created doubt because they were not seen to be serious about the deal,” read the statement.
They have also opposed the activities of CK Raut.
