Nepali Congress leading in Morang
Biratnagar, July 4
Nepali Congress is leading in the vote count of the second round of civic polls in Morang.
NC has won in five local units of the 17 local bodies in the district. Nepali Congress candidates were elected in Sundarharaicha Municipality and Kerabari Rural Municipality. NC’s Shiva Dhakal was elected mayor of Sundarharaicha Municipality while Rohit Karki was elected chief of Kerabari Rural Municipality.
Likewise, NC’s Rabin Rai was elected mayor of Ratuwamai Municipality while CPN-UML’s Dayamanta Chudal was elected deputy mayor of the same the rural municipality. NC’s Shankar Rai was elected to the mayoral post and UML’s Krishna Kumari Niraula was elected deputy mayor in Letang Municipality.
NC’s Ram Kumar Kamat and Manjita Sardar have been elected at chief and deputy chief of Katahari Rural Municipality respectively.
Nepal Democratic Forum’s Bal Chandra Majhi and Amrita Kumari Gachhadar have been elected for the post of chief and deputy chief at Budhiganga Rural Municipality in Morang.
Similarly, CPN-UML’s Tara Bahadur Kafle was elected chief of Kanepokhari Rural Municipality while UML’s Raj Kumari Ingnam was elected deputy chief.
Shiva Narayan Majhi of the CPN-UML has emerged victorious in Gramthan Rural Municipality. Majhi defeated Nepal Democratic Forum’s Jay Prasad Gachhadar by 51 votes. CPN-MC scores nil in the district so far.
