Nepali Congress picks contestants

Kathmandu, June 14

Nepali Congress has selected Bhim Parajuli as its mayoral candidate for Biratnagar Metropolitan City. The party named Indira Karki as its candidate for deputy mayor there. Currently, Parajuli is the Chair of Biratnagar Metropolitan Committee of the Party.

The NC today finalised its candidates for the post of chiefs and deputy chiefs of most of the local levels of provinces 1, 5 and 7. It has not finalised any name of candidates for the local levels of Province 2. The party said it would select its candidates for Province 2 tomorrow. NC central office Secretary Prem KC said the Central Working Committee picked Nrup Odh for mayoral post of Dhangadi Sub Metropolitan City. Sushila Mishra Bhatta was selected for the post of deputy mayor there. It also named Janga Bahadur Saud for the post of mayor and Keshari Bishta Rawal as deputy mayoral candidate in Tikapur Municipality.

NC named Rohit Prasai and Bimala Dhakal as candidates for mayor and deputy mayor respectively for Itahari Sub-metropolitan City, while it picked Tilak Rai and Shyam Regmi as cadidates for mayor and deputy mayor for Dharan Sub-metropolitan City, respectively. NC picked Gehendra DangiĀ  as candidate for Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan City andĀ  Devika Nepali Regmi as candidate for deputy mayor.
