Nepali man arrested in Bangkok for crystal meth smuggling

KATHMANDU: Thai authorities recently arrested a Nepali man from Bangkok for his alleged involvement in drug smuggling.

Media reports identified the suspect as 30-year-old Buddhiman Tamang.

He was rounded up on June 26 from the Thai capital after two persons from Myanmar, who Tamang allegedly hired to smuggle in a consignment of crystal methamphetamine from Yangon, were arrested.

Police had found 7.3 kg of synthetic drug concealed in one of the two Myanmar nationals' baggage upon his arrival at the Suvarnabhumi Airport on June 25.

Investigators learned the duo had been hired to deliver the drugs by the Nepali man, according to the Bangkok Post.
