National dress made compulsory for Terhathum's Chhathar RM reps

TEHRATHUM: The recently elected people's representatives of Chhathar Rural Municipality in Terhathum have decided to put on the national dress compulsorily while attending office.

The women representatives would be wearing the 'gunyocholi' and 'dhaka' fabric shawl while the male representatives would wear the 'Daura-Suruwal, coat and 'dhaka topi' (the traditional Nepali cap).

The first meeting of the Executive Board of the RM on Thursday decided that the local body representatives would have to wear the National outfit while participating in any formal programmes.

The board also decided to promote the use of the dhaka fabric for which the district is famous, said  Santabir Tigela, Chairman of the RM.

Moreover, the meeting took a decision to transform the Rural Municipality into a model rural municipality.
