Nepalis abroad urged to invest in result-oriented projects

Kathmandu, March 19

Minister for Energy Janardan Sharma has urged Nepalis working in various countries across the world to consider investment in hydro-electricity projects that will yield results soon.

At an interaction held with Nepalis working in South Korea today, Minister Sharma said that the government’s policy was to encourage Nepalis working abroad to invest  in hydro electricity projects such as Sunkoshi, Nalsinghgadh, Sharada and Upper Arun, among other such projects.

Stating that the government had launched the  concept of ‘Remit Hydro’ for Nepalis living abroad to inject money for the development of hydro power projects, the minister reaffirmed the Ministry of Energy’s commitment to ensure profit for all investors.

Sharma also spoke about the establishment of a power generation company and transmission line company to streamline power production and distribution.

He said that the government would lure foreign investors to invest in all these mega projects.

The Nepalis in South Korea had asked the minister about the various procedures for putting in investment, according to the minister’s personal secretary Krishna KC.

Minister Sharma, during his time in South Korea, is scheduled to hold meetings with officials of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
