The first woman judge of Nepal, Sharada Shrestha, has passed away today. She was 84.
She died while under treatment at the Police Hospital at local Maharajgunj this morning, said Nirajan Pandey, the Information Officer at the Supreme Court.
Shrestha was undergoing medical treatment at the Police Hospital since some days following health issues.
She was the second woman judge to reach the Supreme Court. Shrestha served as the Supreme Court Justice from April 15, 2004 to June 3, 2008. She was in the judiciary service since she joined as an officer.
Her last rites would be performed at Padhupati Aryaghat today itself. She is survived by two sons.
