‘Nepal’s statute most inclusive’

Butwal, April 9

Former chairperson of Constituent Assembly Subas Chandra Nembang has termed Nepal’s constitution one of the most ‘inclusive’ charters in the world.

Addressing a gathering organised by CPN-UML in Rupandehi constituency number 4 in Butwal today, he stressed the need for all Nepali people to dispel the rumours being spread against the constitution, which was promulgated with the approval of more than 90 per cent members of the CA.

Nembang, also a UML standing committee member, also called people from all groups and communities to make coordinated efforts for building a prosperous nation by implementing the constitution. He further said that the constitution was promulgated after extensive discussions and hard work of five years and eight months. Nembang also hinted that a senior minister of the government was spreading rumours against the constitution in the parliament of a foreign country.

The former Speaker also said he had received information that more than 2,000 Indian girls have so far received naturalised citizenship in 20 Tarai districts after the new constitution was promulgated.
