KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 6
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index surged by 56.09 points, closing at 2,653.58, a 2.15% increase, on the first trading day of the week. The Sensitive Index also rose by 2.08%, while the Float Index saw a 2.22% gain.
A total turnover of Rs 6.13 billion was recorded, with 15,046,710 shares traded over 69,860 transactions. Shares of 308 companies were traded on the day.
Nyadi Hydropower Limited (NYADI) saw a 10% increase in its share value. Sahas Urja Limited (SAHAS) led the market with the highest number of transactions (4,272), volume (1,460,936), and turnover (Rs 638.35 million).
In terms of overall stock movement, 219 companies saw their stock values rise, 23 declined, and two remained unchanged.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index performed best with a 6.30% increase, followed by Manufacturing and Processing at 3.12%. The Hydropower Index gained 2.73%, while the Development Bank Index and Banking SubIndex grew by 2.22% and 2.20%, respectively.
Other sectors also showed positive growth, including Hotels and Tourism (1.71%), Life Insurance (1.34%), and Non-Life Insurance (1.49%). The Trading Index saw a smaller increase of 0.90%.
