New-born Madhes party plans protest right away

Rajbiraj, December 23:

Madhes Nawanirman Sena (MNS), a newly formed organisation in Madhes region, accused the Madhes based political parties of ignoring the major agendas of Madhesi people and their sentiments in the pretext of agreements.

Talking to the journalists in Saptari today, MNS chief Salim Ansari said the Madhes based parties were just inclining to take the positions in the CA by raising the Madhes agendas. Ansari, who was also affiliated with the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (MJF) earlier, said, “The MJF signed 28-point agreement just for posts by forgetting the ‘One Madhes One Pradesh’ demand of Madhesi people.”

He said that Mahantha Thakur, Rajendra Mahato, Hridayesh Tripathi among others took part in the 3rd Madhes Andolan but dismissed the Andolan in the name of 8-point agreement. Pointing out the formation of MNS for “One Madhes One Pradesh’ agenda after the Madhesi leaders ignored it, Salim demanded to declare martyrs to the persons who died during Madesh agitation and to provide treatment to the injured persons, compensate them with Rs 2 lakh each, provide special social allowance to poor Madhesi farmers and workers, and endow with free higher secondary education to their children. Similarly, Salim demanded to uplift the status of Madhes based backward communities by ensuring the rights of indigenous, Madhesi, Janajatis, Muslims and Madhesi dalits in the constitution. He suggested declaring a martyr’s day for January 19 in memory of Lahan based Ramesh Mahato, who died in Madhesi agitation.

Ansari further said that they would launch violence free agitation demanding to meet the chief agendas of Madhes from the next month. “Once we will complete the formation of organisations in the different districts of Madhes, the agitation will go ahead,” he warned.
