New bridge will connect Tanahun, Chitwan in Muglin

DAMAULI: Construction works for a bridge over the Trishuli River connecting Tanahun and Chitwan districts at Muglin have been expedited.

The new bridge would replace a 40-year-old bridge along the Prithvi Highway, which has already been weakened and at the risk of collapse anytime.

Head of Bridge Construction Project, Krishna Bhandari, informed that the construction works are being carried out rapidly.

“We have already completed the 20 per cent of the work," he further stated that the pillars are being erected currently.

Likewises, trusses are being installed to give an arch shape to the bridge, according to the designers.

Daily around 40 to 50 labourers are employed for the bridge construction.

Construction of the 160-metre bridge, funded by the Government of Nepal and the World Bank, is estimated to cost Rs.100 million. It is expected that the bridge construction would complete by mid-October next year.
