KATHMANDU, MAY 10

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers' newly launched public suggestion portal has received 5,119 submissions by Sunday morning, reflecting strong public engagement ahead of the government's policy and programme announcement on Monday.

The digital platform, launched on Saturday evening, has been introduced with the aim of incorporating citizens' needs and expectations while promoting transparency and people-centric governance.

Through the portal, Nepali citizens at home and abroad, along with experts and policymakers, can submit their views and recommendations directly to the government on budget priorities and development agendas.

The portal had already received a total of 5,119 suggestions, of which 1,733 were related to the budget and 2,466 to policy.

Among sectoral submissions, education, health and science led with 950 suggestions, followed by inter-agency coordination (837), economy, industry and commerce (939), infrastructure development (904), forests and environment (277), social security (119), land administration (103), citizen services (194), governance (155), law and justice (109), employee administration (198), and other sectors (213).

According to Dipa Dahal, Press and Research Expert at the Prime Minister's Office, the initiative reflects the government's intent to make policymaking more inclusive by valuing public input and expert insights beyond administrative circles. She stated that submitted suggestions will be reviewed at the policy and administrative level and implemented accordingly.

The system also includes a tracking feature that allows users to monitor the status of their submissions and actions taken by the government.

The government has urged all citizens to actively participate in the initiative. Suggestions can be submitted at https://suggestions.opmcm.gov.np/.
