New building at quake-hit Sindhupalchok school
KATHMANDU: Helambu Education and Livelihood Partnership (HELP), a Nepali NGO, in association with the MondoChallenge Foundation, on Sunday inaugurated a new building of an earthquake-hit primary school in Birkharka of Sindhupalchok.
Chief Executive of MondoChallenge Foundation, Anthony Lunch and Executive Director of HELP Jimmy Lama jointly inaugurated the building yesterday.
According to a statement issued by HELP, it established the first stone-masonry building as Shree Satdhara Primary School under its school reconstruction project after the massive earthquake that struck Nepal last year.
The School offers education for students from grade one to six. It has already enrolled 85 students and recruited five teachers including three from government's side, one sponsored by Mondo/HELP and one from the community side, the statement read.
Also present at the inauguration ceremony were 11 students from Loughborough University, who are currently in Nepal to volunteer with HELP's school-reconstruction project in Sindhupalchok district.
The statement informed it had seven rebuilding projects underway across the district.
HELP had signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Education in October regarding its reconstruction project.
