New cancer hospital in Banke to be named after Sushil Koirala
KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Cabinet on Tuesday decided to open a new cancer hospital in Banke and name it after late Sushil Koirala, who served as Nepal's Prime Minister and was the president of Nepali Congress.
Banke was home district of Koirala. Koirala suffered from tongue cancerĀ and underwent operations in the United States for "successful treatment".
The Nepali Congress leader died at 78 died in February last year.
Also, the government decided to accept Rs 15.93 billion assistance from the World Bank to reform Nepal's health sector.
The Cabinet meeting, which was held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singhadarbar prior to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's address to the nation, decided to depute 700 Nepal Army personnel for the security of forests.
Also, it decided to set up an infrastructure development bank in partnership between the government and the private sector.
The Cabinet further decided to allocate budget for several programmes, a statement issued by the PM's Secretariat said, referring to Minister Hit Raj Pandey.
