New mother dies of postpartum complications in Bajura
BAJURA: A new mother died from postpartum complications in Jagannath Rural Municipality-5 of Bajura district on Monday.
Dr Rupchandra Biswakarma, chief at District Hospital, Bajura, identified the deceased as Pulti Rawal, 35, of Gotri in the rural municipality.
According to Amar Budha, a staffer at Gotri Community Health Centre, Rawal was brought to the facility in an unconscious state and was bleeding heavily due to retained placenta, post delivery. Health personnel were successful in removing the placenta, following which the bleeding also ceased. Rawal gained consciousness thereafter and even took a light snack.
However, Rawal's condition suddenly deteriorated and she passed away. Rawal had given birth at home.
Earlier, an attempt was made to take her outside for treatment in a helicopter but the plan was cancelled after she showed signs of improvement, informed Dr Bishwakarma.
Four women have lost their lives in Bajura in the course of giving birth in recent months while a total of five women from the district were provided relief by being transferred in a helicopter for treatment under the President Rescue Assistance Programme.
