KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 20
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on university graduates to work sincerely for the nation, emphasizing that Nepal is a country of knowledge, philosophy, yoga, and research.
Addressing the 20th Convocation Ceremony of Pokhara University at Dhungepatan, Kaski, today, he stressed the importance of applying acquired knowledge toward positive and constructive endeavors for the benefit of society.
"True success can only be achieved through honesty. Success gained through dishonesty is of no value to society. Even if you have excelled academically, your knowledge is wasted if it is used for criminal activities such as deceit, theft, or negativity. You must contribute to society and the nation. Working solely for personal gain is selfishness-do something meaningful for your country and community. As sovereign citizens, you must uphold your dignity," PM and Chancellor Oli stated.
Urging university students not to feel inferior due to Nepal's size, he reiterated that a nation's sovereignty is not defined by its territorial scale.
"You cannot become a mahout if you flee at the sight of an elephant. Instead, learn to tame the elephant and become its master. Be courageous, but not reckless," he advised, encouraging graduates to face challenges with wisdom and perseverance.
Highlighting Nepal's fertile land as a resource for "transformative development," PM Oli called on the university to actively contribute in this area, assuring that the government would extend its support.
On the occasion, Chancellor Oli conferred degrees upon 7,872 students from various faculties and programs under the university.
