LALITPUR, AUGUST 2

Players from Newgen Sports Academy are set to participate in the seventh Heros Invitational Taekwondo Cup 2025, scheduled to take place in Malaysia from August 7.

A total of five players from the Academy - Samragyee Chhetri, Ryan Aryal, Riya Aryal, Swamik Mahatara and Bishnu Mahatara - will compete in the international event under the guidance of coach Suprem Gurung. The Nepali players will compete in poomsae division in U-7, U-12 and U-50 age categories, informed coach Gurung.

South Asian Games gold medallist Ayasha Shakya and popular comedian Sandeep Chhetri among others bade farewell to the team. Shakya offered inspiring words to the athletes. She encouraged them to compete without the fear of winning or losing and to give their best performance. "Always give your best shot - that's what truly matters," she said.

Comedian Chhetri added a touch of humor and positivity to the event, expressing confidence in the team's ability to shine on the international stage. The Heros Invitational Taekwondo Cup will bring together taekwondo talents from various countries, offering valuable exposure and experience to the Nepali participants.
