NHRC secy knocks CIAA door

KATHMANDU: Bishal Khanal, secretary, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), today filed a complaint against its commissioner Dr Leela Pathak at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

Khanal demanded an investigation into the commissioner’s allegation. During an interview with a newspaper a few days ago, Pathak had accused Khanal of being

involved in corruption while purchasing vehicles and taking other financial decisions.

“If the allegation is proved, I’m ready to quit the job and bear due punishment,” Khanal said in his complaint filed at the CIAA. He said that he was compelled to knock on the door of the anti-graft body as the allegation had put his morality at stake.

“We will take decision on the case after holding necessary discussions,” Lalit Bahadur Limbu, Acting Chief Commissioner, CIAA, informed.
