NIBL aid for UNHCR

Kathmandu, August 22 :

The Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIBL) handed over Rs 640,000 to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for its annual Programme for the Bhutanese refugees, who have been living in camps in in eastern Nepal.

“This is a landmark in private sector support to refugees in Nepal and a clear expression of the concern of Nepal Investment Bank Limited to help refugees and we warmly thank the NIBL for its generosity,” said Abraham Abraham, UNHCR’s Representative in Nepal in a statement.

The contribution made by the Nepal Investment Bank Limited will be used to fund primary educational needs of the refugee students in the camps.

The statement quoted the chairman and chief executive director of Nepal Investment Bank Limited, Prithivi Bahadur Pande, as saying: “We are pleased to support the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’s noble cause of educating the Bhutanese refugees. The contribution is a part of our corporate social responsibility.”
