RAUTAHAT: A man was killed after being hit by a night bus near a bus park in Gaur Municipality-4 of Rautahat district, on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Sukhari Mahato (65) of Rajdevi Municipality-5 in the district.

It has been reported that the Kathmandu-bound bus (Na 5 Pa 7369) heading towards the bus park from Bankul to pick passengers knocked Mahato critically injuring him near the bus park in Gaur at around 7:30 last night.

Critically injured Mahato was rushed to District Hospital, Gaur where he was pronounced dead upon arrival, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mahendra Prasad Marasini. He added that the vehicle was impounded and its driver was taken into police custody for necessary action.

The body of the deceased was handed over to his family members this morning after conducting postmortem at the hospital, police informed.
