Vehicle movement along the Prithvi Highway in Chitwan and Dhading districts and the Narayangarh-Muglin road section has been suspended overnight due to continuous rainfall and the increased risk of landslides.

Chitwan Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal said authorities would stop all vehicle movement from 8pm Thursday until 5am Friday as a precautionary measure.
Officials said road and weather conditions would be assessed Friday morning before a decision is made on whether traffic can safely resume. Aryal warned that the suspension could continue beyond 5am if rainfall persists and landslide risks remain high.
The overnight closure comes amid ongoing heavy rainfall across several parts of the country, with authorities monitoring vulnerable road corridors closely.
Meanwhile, Dhading Chief District Officer Laxmi Pandey Gautam urged travellers, transport operators and drivers to assess weather and road conditions before starting their journeys, avoid landslide-prone areas and strictly follow safety instructions issued by authorities.
