KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 9
A 18-year-old Nepali climber has scripted history in mountain climbing becoming the world's youngest climber to join the coveted club of 8,000ers.
Nima Rinji Sherpa from Makalu stood atop Mt Shishapangma in Tibet this morning becoming the youngest person ever to summit all 14 highest mountains above 8,000m, confirmed Chhang Dawa Sherpa, expedition director at Seven Summit Treks, who is now at the base camp.
With an aim to inspire a new generation and redefine mountaineering, Nima Rinji along with his climbing partner Passang Nurbu Sherpa reached the summit of Shishapangma at around 6:05am CST completing all 14 peaks above 8,000m, said Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, Nima Rinji's father and Chief Executive Officer at 14 Peaks Expedition. "He completed all 14 peaks in just 2 years and 40 days."

Nima Rinji has many records including the world's youngest climber to have scaled G1 and G2. He scaled Nanga Parbat becoming the youngest climber to have scaled the mountain. Earlier, Nima Rinji also set the world record on Mt Everest and Lhotse at the youngest age by climbing double headers (8000ers) at 17 years 35 days within 10 hours. He is also the youngest person ever to summit Mt. Kanchenjunga.
In 2022, Nima Rinji from the Seven Summit Treks and 14 Peaks Expedition, set the world after becoming the youngest person in the world to have scaled Mt Manaslu real summit. "The climbers are descending safely to the lower camp," Chhang Dawa said.
