Nine injured in landslide admitted to National Trauma Centre
Kathmandu, July 16
Nine persons, including three women and one child, who were injured in a rain-triggered landslide that took place in Likhu Rural Municipality of Ramechhap last night, have been admitted to National Trauma Centre of Bir Hospital, in Kathmandu, today.
Two other persons died on the spot.
Umesh Shrestha, who was involved in rescue work, informed that Suntali Khatri, Kumar Khatri, Bhagwati Khatri, Radha Khatri, Pranish Khatri, Laxmi Khatri, Rudra Gurung, Bishal Thapa, and a minor Pramisha Khatri were badly injured in the landslide.
The injured were airlifted by a Nepali Army helicopter as their treatment was not possible in the village, he said.
Prakash Khatri, a local said, “We were unable to immediately rescue the victims as the area where the disaster took place was far away. In the morning, we rushed to the site and found that two people had already died. Some of the injured were hanging from tree branches, while others were stuck in boulders.”
Some of the injured were in unconscious state, while the others were in semi-conscious state informed Dr Mukesh Yadav who was involved in their treatment at the trauma centre.
“We have performed blood test and city scan of the injured. We have been waiting for the reports. Their treatment is under way,” said the doctor.
