DAMAULI, JANUARY 27

Nirmal Secondary School at Bhadgaun, Byas Municipality, in Tanahun district has bagged the ISA Foundation International School Award.

The British Council Nepal presented the award to it. Nirmal Secondary School is the only school in the district to get this award so far.

Programmes, run by the school with the intention of making teaching-learning activities at community and institutional schools interesting and effective, have earned it the award, School Principal Ganesh Chandra Basnet said.

Basnet said the school had run seven projects. "We had submitted proposal by carrying out the seven projects for 2020-2021. Our proposal was selected and also awarded.

This has enhanced the school's prestige."

Several activities based on local curriculum were conducted in the school. These activities included conducting teaching-learning in partnership with community and institutional schools, exchange of teaching and learning practices between students of Nirmal Secondary School and students of schools in a foreign country.

The School had also run an activity in collaboration with a school from India.

The students of Nirmal Secondary School and the Indian school shared experiences regarding the Darai language, the local language of Damauli, and the local language spoken in the area where the Indian school is located.

The International School Award recognises the best practices incorporating international dimension to the school.

The British Council Nepal said 146 of the 493 schools from Nepal participating in this programme since 2012 have bagged the award.
