Nirmala’s murder accused sent to four-day custody

Dilip Singh Bista, who as arrested for the rape and murder of Nirmala Panta, 13, in Bhimdatta Municipality, was remanded to four-day custody by District Court Kanchanpur today.

According to DSP Krishnaraj Ojha, Dilip was brought to Kanchanpur from Kathmandu and produced at the court for a four-day remand. He was taken to Kathmandu for health check-up and DNA test. “Report of the health check-up has not come yet. We shall submit it to the court after the report comes,” said DSP Ojha.

Then SP Dilliraj Bista had arrested and made public Dilip Singh accusing him of raping and murdering Panta.

Locals, however, had hit the street and agitated saying that police had arrested Dilip Singh, a mentally disturbed man, to shield the real culprits involved in the incident. One minor was killed and 13 others were injured in the agitation.
