No alternative to Nepal Constitution rewriting, Upendra Yadav reiterates

KATHMANDU: Upendra Yadav, the chairman of Federal Socialist Forum Nepal, reiterated the need for rewriting Nepal's Constitution, claiming that it was burdened with faults and shortcomings.

“Though we have raised the issue of amendment,” Yadav maintained, “Constitution rewriting is the only alternative.”

Yadav, also the leader of Federal Alliance which includes United Democratic Madhesi Front also, was speaking at a function organised to release a book here in Kathmandu, according to a media release issued by his secretariat.

While claiming that demands put forth by Madhesi, Aadivasi Janajati, Tharu, Dalit and other backward communities, Yadav was of the opinion that the fate of Constitution Amendment Bill was an insignificant issue.

He went on to accuse the State of extreme racism, and claimed that “internal colony” was the main reason behind the Madhes crisis.
