No budget before second phase of polls: Nepal

Pokhara, May 4

Senior CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal today said the government should present the budget of the new fiscal only after the second phase of local level elections.

Speaking at a press meet organised by Press Chautari Kaski today, Nepal said, “The elections should not be influenced by unveiling a poll-centric budget.”

Nepal, who is also a former prime minister, said that the ruling forces had filed the impeachment motion against CJ Sushila Karki, who was bold, professional and determined, as she didn’t bother about their partisan interest and directive.

He demanded that the impeachment motion filed against her should be revoked at the

earliest. However, the motion is unlikely to pass due to lack

of majority in the Parliament, Nepal said.

Nepal argued that his party would not let the ruling forces amend the constitution before the polls at any cost.

“However, the  constitution can be amended if necessary only after the polls,” said Nepal.
