No cargo has entered Nepal thru Tatopani entry point for weeks

Kavre, June 11

Ever since the Sindhupalchowk’s Tatopani entry point was formally opened a couple of weeks ago after being ravaged by earthquakes in 2015, not a single consignment has entered the country through the entry point.

Following completion of reconstruction of the quake-ravaged structures, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supply Matrika Yadav and Chinese ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi had jointly declared formal resumption of the entry point at a programme on May 29.

Except for the four containers carrying cotton crossing into the country through the entry point from China on the day when resumption of the entry point was announced, not a single cargo has come in through the entry point.

“It’s true that not a single cargo has entered Nepal via this entry point from the day it was resumed officially,” said Sindhupalchowk Chief District Officer Gomadevi Chemjong. He did not talk about the reason.
