No change of guard for two years, says Dahal

Sindhulimadi, March 13

Unified CPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said the KP Sharma Oli-led government would not change for two years.

Addressing party cadres in Sindhulimadi in Sindhuli, Dahal held that the incumbent government would hold elections for local bodies.

He further clarified that the incumbent government would remain even though the Nepali Congress had chosen a new leadership from its 13th General Convention.

“A national government including the Nepali Congress is needed to make the reconstruction campaign more effective and also for implementation of the new constitution,” he said. Dahal further added that the present government would lead the national government.

Dahal expressed confidence that the prime minister’s visit to China would be beneficial in terms of trade diversification. “Political parties and the government have been holding discussion on making the PM’s visit more beneficial,” he informed.

Dahal also said the different Maoist parties would be unified soon. “We have been holding discussion in different phases for unification among Maoist parties, but not with Baburam Bhattarai’s party,” he said, adding that the result would be out soon.

He said there was no point in holding discussion with Bhattarai as he had already left Marxism.

Dahal said his party was the first power of the country in terms of political issues and agendas. He urged party cadres to make the party the number one in the country.
