No office buildings for Dadeldhura local reps

Dadeldhura, July 21

Elected local level representatives in Dadeldhura said they were unable to discharge their duties effectively due to lack of proper physical infrastructure.

Except for Amargadhi Municipality, other six local levels in the district have yet to set up offices for their elected chiefs and deputies.

“It is heartening that local elections were finally held after two decades, but the sad part of the story is that we do not have our office building. This has created difficulty for us in carrying out our official work,” lamented Bal Bahadur Gurung, chief of Alital Rural Municipality.

Bhageshwor Rural Municipality Chief Kaushi Bhatta said they had yet to find a house to rent for their office.

Ajayameru Rural Municipality Chief Umesh Bhatta said despite all local levels in the district being linked to a local road network, the rural municipality in particular had been facing transport difficulties due to monsoon rains. The sorry condition of roads has affected the supply of daily essentials, he added.

“We are aware of the condition of roads but the immediate need of setting up our offices has superseded the problem,” he said.
