Minister for Energy Janardan Sharma today asserted that the country was free from load shedding at the moment.

Inaugurating the 25 MW Upper Modi Hydro Project at Sildujure in Kaski district, Sharma held that power cuts that were taking place sometimes was due to technical setback.

“Not only Kathmandu, but many cities in the country including Pokhara, Butwal, and Bhairahawa now have uninterrupted power supply. Some places in Tarai are facing up to two-hour power cuts, and this is due to technical problems,” Sharma added.

The minister urged investors to invest in the modality of signing PPA in Nepali currency,and not to be worried about the market to sell electricity. “If we can develop industries, Nepal can consume 20,000 MW of electricity”, Sharma added.

He informed that his ministry had formulated a 37-point action plan and he was moving ahead as per the same action plan. He said Upper Arun, Tamor, and Utter Ganga hydro projects would be constructed by Nepal Electricity Authority.
