Nepali Congress General Secretary Biswo Prakash Sharma on Monday made it clear that American troops would not come to Nepal after ratification of the Millennium Challenge Corporation compact in the Parliament.
Sharma, who came to Gaighat as part of his party's nationwide campaign, reiterated that it was a rumour spread by ultra communists that passage of MCC from Parliament would pave the way for the entry of US troops to Nepal. "If US troops come to Nepal, I want the people not to vote for NC in the polls," Sharma assured.
Sharma held that the MCC grant would be a milestone for construction of highways and electricity infrastructure.
He asked the party's rank and file to strengthen the party's organisation at the grassroot level to win the local polls.
