NRNA-Thailand condemns threat

KATHMANDU: Non-resident Nepali Association-Thailand has condemned threats issued to two of its members by Ramesh Khadka, brother of Sunil Khadka, who is accused of duping Nepali students in Bangkok. “Ramesh had requested to meet our Central Regional Coordinator Dilli Raj Gyawali,” says a statement issued by NRNA-Thailand. The meeting was sought as Gyawali had met the Thai ambassador to Nepal on July 18 to inform the envoy about swindling of Nepali students by Khadka in Bangkok.

Gyawali and NRNA National Coordination Council Thailand Vice-president Bhabindra Basnet agreed to meet Ramesh in Durbar Marg on July 19. During

the meeting, Ramesh threatened them in person and attempted to attack them, questioning why they notified the Thai Embassy in Kathmandu about the incident.

NRNA members were able to seek assistance and protect themselves and reach out to the Durbar Marg police. A police official said Ramesh was released after he signed a paper pledging that he would no more threaten NRNA-Thailand members in future.
