NSC records second light aftershock of the day, felt in Kathmandu Valley also
KATHMANDU: A light tremor shook the Kathmandu Valley and neighbouring districts at around 9:14 pm on Monday evening.
The National Seismological Centre said it recorded an aftershock of local magnitude 4.4 in Sindhupalchok district at that time.
The coordinates 27.96°N and 85.75°E show that epicentre was close to Golche, bordering Langtang National Park, in the district. The place lies north of the district headquarters Chautara.
It was second significant aftershock of the day.
Earlier, an aftershock of local magnitude 4.3 was recorded at 10:48 am in the eastern district of Dolakha.
The number of significant aftershocks of local magnitude 4.0 or above has reached 345 since April 25 till this evening.
Meanwhile, the official death toll of the devastating earthquake has reached 8897, according to the Disaster Risk Reduction Portal of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
