NSP factions may unite soon
Lahan, July 21:
Acting chairman of the Nepal Sadbhavana Party (NSP) Laxman Lal Karna today hinted at the possibility of unification of the NSP and the NSP (Anandidevi).
Stating that unification talks are underway, Karna said the matter would be finalised once the date for constituent assembly elections is announced. Karna made these remarks at a press meet in Siraha. Accusing the party leadership of taking the party towards a a wrong direction in the past, Karna said monarchy would be removed from the party statute within four months and the agenda seeking the formation of a democratic republic would be included in it.
He said the party would not object if the government-formed probe commission found the then NSP chairman Badri Prasad Mandal, a minister in the royal government, guilty. Karna said NSP activists have always been in favour of a democratic republic. He stressed the need to form a broader Madhesi Democratic Forum for giving the voice for the freedom and rights of the Madhesi people a boost.
