NSU motorcycle rally for statute
JHAPA: Nepal Students’ Union (NSU), a sister organisation of the Nepali Congress kicked off Mechi-Mahakali motorcycle rally to press for timely statute today.
According to Pradeep Poudel, president, NSU, they embarked on the rally from Kakarbhitta in the east and Gaddachouki in Kanchanpur in the west simultaneously. We have initiated rally from both the east and west of the country to pile up nationwide pressure for timely constitution, he added.
He informed that both rallies will converge at Narayangadh on March 21. The rally will come to an end in front of the Constituent Assembly hall at New Baneshwor on March 22, Poudel said.
The motorcycle rally was seen off by NC central member Chakra Prasad Bastola and former minister Narendra Bikram Nembang. The rally comprises of 24 persons that included three women.
Speaking at the farewell function, Bastola said, “Nepalese people want timely constitution. Political parties cannot undermine the people’s mandate.”
Meanwhile, at another programme, in Damak, NSU president Poudel said, “Students are ready for any sort of sacrifice while pressing for timely drafting of a democratic constitution”.
Similarly, erstwhile NSU president Kalyan Gurung addressed a function organised to see off the rally at Gaddachauki in Kanchanpur in the west.
