NTF Chair lauds role of teachers

Damauli, September 14

Chairman of Nepal Teachers’ Federation Baburam Thapa said the role of teachers was significant in bringing about revolutionary changes in the country.

Inaugurating the convention of Nepal Teachers’ Association in Damauli, Tanahun, today, Thapa said teachers were not receiving the credit they deserved though their role was important in bringing positive change. “The country won’t move on the path of development until the state honours the teachers.”

Thapa urged the government to be serious about addressing the demands of the teachers. He said the country would move towards development and prosperity only if the state took care of teachers.

Thapa said temporary teachers have to be given permanent status and uniform should be offered to school staffers. He said initiatives have been taken to include duties and rights of teachers in the National Policy Act.
