Number of snakebite cases up in Jhapa

JHAPA: The number of snakebite patients has increased at the Snakebite Treatment Centre, Charaali in Jhapa district.

The number of patients visiting the Centre, run with the technical support of Kali Bahadur Battalion of the Nepal Army, has reached to 424 during three months from April 14, 2015 to July 16.

The number was 354 during the same period in the previous year.

The Centre was established 10 years ago. A large number of snakebite patients from Jhapa and Ilam districts and Darjeeling region of India visit the Centre for the treatment.

According to the Battalion, a total of 10,966 people have been benefitted so far from the Centre during one decade.
