Nepalgunj, November 19
Trainee staff nurses and employees today staged a rally expressing dissatisfaction with the salary provided by Lord Budhha Educational Academy in Nepalgunj, Banke.
Lord Buddha Educational Academy is running Nepal Medical College Teaching Hospital in Banke’s Kohalpur and Nepalgunj.
Trainee nurses and other staffers had staged the rally as nurses were not provided even minimum salary and other staffers were not provided salaries on regular basis. The rally was held at the initiative of Nepal Health Workers’ and Employees’ Union.
They demanded nurses be provided salary in proportion to the minimum salary as determined by the Ministry of Labour and other staffers be provided monthly salaries on time.
Agitating nurses and staffers said they would declare a series of fresh protests if their demands were not fulfilled on time.
Employees’ Union President Muslim Khan vented ire saying that though the nurses were entitled to receive salary at par with first class non-gazetted officer, they were provided just Rs 13,450 a month.
Around 1,500 staffers have been deprived of their salary for the past three months in the organisation.
