Office attendant running school in Siraha district
Siraha, December 30
An office attendant has been operating all school activities due to irregularity of teachers at Panwari Foundation School in Naraha Rural Municipality, Siraha.
The school has postings of headteacher, a teacher, a facilitator from Child Development Centre and an office attendant.
Guardians of the school complained that the headteacher, Surya Narayan Mandal remained absent for long and irregular on one pretext or another. They said the headteacher usually would leave saying that he had to attend some meeting or discussion at the district education office and other places.
Tulasi Lama, CDC facilitator, and school attendant Aasha Kumari Lama said Mandal did not come to the school on a regular basis.
Meanwhile, headteacher Mandal acknowledged that he could not give time to school. “I am busy with some official work regarding allocation of budget for reconstruction of school building,” he added.
A total of 224 students are currently studying in the primary school, almost all of whom are from Dalit Community. Office attendant Lama said around 40 students attended the school on a regular basis. “I cannot say exactly how many students are there in the school as the headteacher keeps attendance registers in his custody,” he added.
