Officials do not turn up in Sankhu-based Administration Office

KATHMANDU: The service recipients in the northeast region of Kathmandu district are at the receiving end as the officials don’t turn up in the Sankhu-based Area Administration Office on regular basis.

The government had established the Area Administration Office some years ago aiming to provide services to the locals of Shankarapur, Kageshwori Manohara and Gokarneshwor municipalities at their doorsteps.

The local residents complained that the officials do not visit the office on regular basis and seem reluctant in service delivery.

Chhetra Bahadur Bomjan of Gagalphedi in Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-1 said that he spent the entire day to visit the office to get his citizenship certificate but returned home after failing to meet the officials.

Bomjan said that he received his citizenship certificate from the District Administration Office at Babarmahal after he could not get the service from the Office established in his ‘doorstep’.

The government has deployed an under-secretary, a section officer, a nayab subba, a computer operator, two office helpers and a driver in the Area Administration Office. But, other officials except the helpers and computer operator are not available in the office, Sharmila Shrestha, a resident of Sankhu said.

However, Chief of the Office, Banshi Kumar Acharya, claimed that everyone was provided with service. “We go for field visit in the village as the number of service seekers is low. We are providing four to five citizenships every day. We are working for market monitoring and relief and rehabilitation operations in the aftermath of the earthquakes,” he claimed.
