DHANGADHI, JULY 27
A man died on Monday while being taken to Kathmandu for treatment after sustaining critical burn injuries in an apparent self-immolation attempt in Dhangadhi, police said.
According to Inspector Kailash Bista of the District Police Office, Kailali, the victim allegedly poured petrol over himself and set himself on fire inside his home in Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City-7 on Sunday evening.
Family members rushed him to Seti Provincial Hospital, where doctors said he had suffered burns to around 60 per cent of his body.
He was referred to Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj for advanced treatment, but his relatives instead took him to Kathmandu.
Bista said the man died at around 7 am on Monday while the vehicle carrying him reached Dhading. His body is being brought back to Kailali.
Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
