Officials rushing project completion

Ramechhap, June 25

With the current fiscal year about to end, government offices in Ramechhap have expedited development works in the district.

Civil servants can be seen busy holding meetings and participating in discussions on budget allocation and developmental works in the district these days. As the current fiscal would end in mid-July, the budget allocated for various developmental works for the ongoing fiscal need to be spent within the fiscal.

The tendency to commence development works at the eleventh hour, however, is not a new trend and it contradicts the local government’s pledge to complete works before the end of the fiscal year.

The NEA has recently launched electrification project worth Rs 10 million in the district.

NEA Ramechhap chief Chandrabir Khadka said the electrification project was stalled due to the delay in budget allocation. “We have launched electrification project in 24 VDCs and it will be completed within a month,” Khadka said.

Similarly, the DDC distributed around Rs 13 million for developmental works just a fortnight ago. District Agriculture Office, Ramechhap has failed to allocate and distribute the fund allocated for cooperative shops. District Education Office only recently took the decision to appoint teachers on relief quotas.

Chiefs of various government offices said developmental works were delayed as the government failed to release budget on time while the locals blamed the government offices for the delay.
