Mid-term election dates announced
KATHMANDU, MAY 22
The Government of Nepal has decided to recommend President Bidya Devi Bhandari to dissolve the House of Representatives and to announce early elections, to be held in two rounds, on November 12 and November 19.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had summoned an emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers close to midnight, immediately after the President rejected claims of both the aspirants for the PM's post - Oli and Deuba, citing their claims were short of required provisions.

PM Oli has taken this step apparently to prove that his December 2020 move to dissolve the House and set the dates for snap polls, was in fact a legitimate and the right step.

The Office of the President's response to the government's decision is awaited, which in all likelihood, as with all past recommendations forwarded by the government, would be to give it a green signal.
