Oli says UML will emerge victorious in province number 2

CHITWAN: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has claimed that the party will emerge victorious in upcoming local polls in province number 2 on September 18.

Former PM Oli speaking at a press meet organised by Press Chautari Chitwan at Bharatpur Airport this morning, said UML would be the number 1 party in province number 2 referring to party's victories in two phases of local polls on May 14 and June 23.

Leader Oli also shared that UML will remain in the opposition party for two more months. He also said the party has not decided whether to join the government.

UML Chairman Oli also accused Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba of misusing his power to terminate National Medical College affiliation with the Tribhuvan University.

He lamented that the PM made the decision on the same day when UML nominated Industrialist and Chairperson of the National Medical College Basuridin Ansari as the Mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City for the upcoming third phase of local polls.

Oli also said that the Supreme Court had ordered TU to give affiliation to the National Medical College, however, PM Deuba misused his power of being the Vice-Chancellor of the TU and made the decision under the pressure.

"No organisation can work independently in Nepal as they are scared of Motion of No Confidence which could be filed at any time by the ruling government," Oli lamented.

He also questioned, while giving affiliation to medical colleges who is responsible for the inspection, the University or the probe committee. "Government should not be directed by sentiments, fake rumor, it should find the ground reality and work on it, organisations should be allowed to work freely," Oli stressed.

Likewise, speaking of Manmohan Medical College, Oli clarified that MMC is neither a UML property, nor it is concerned in operating business and which it will never do in the future.

Similarly, the former PM Oli had stressed that without taking any stern actions against the corrupt people and organisations, its hard to control rampant corruption in the country.

Referring to the recent Nepal Oil Corporation's land purchase deal in Jhapa, Chitwan and Rupandehi district, leader Oli said its sheer abuse of state power and it's coffers. "Corruption is abuse of state power and ruling government is preserving the rampant corruption," Oli reacted angrily.

"UML alone cannot fight against corruption, national sovereignty, social harmony, national unity and prosperity," he added.

Oli also expressed dissatisfaction regrading PM Deuba's sharing of failed Constitution amendment bill in the Legislature Parliament during a joint press meet with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi during his recent five-day state visit to the Southern neighbour.

UML leader KP Sharma Oli also said that Chitwan was famous for one-horned rhino, but now it's famous as a place of tearing ballot papers.
