Oli to attend meet

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs KP Sharma Oli will leave for Dhaka on July 31, leading a Nepali delegation to the 27th Session of the Council of Ministers of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). The 27th Session of the Council of Ministers will be held in Dhaka from July 1 to July 2, according to a press statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. — RSS

Japanese aid

Kathmandu: Japan on Saturday agreed to provide a grant of Rs 6,187,056 to the Association of Medical Doctors of Asia (AMDA) - Nepal for the construction of the AMDA Mechi hospital in eastern Nepal. Japanese ambassador to Nepal Tsutomu Hiraoka and chairperson of the AMDA-Nepal Dr Ramesh Prasad Acharya signed an agreement to this effect. — HNS

‘HoR to stay till polls’

Kavre: Assistance Minister for Science, Technology and Environment Man Bahadur Bishwokarma said in Dhulikhel the Parliament will not be dissolved until the polls to a Constituent Assembly are held or other body formed following polls. “Only after the formation of the CA or any other body through polls can the House be dissolved,” he said. — HNS

Melox launched

KATHMANDU: Medivet, a veterinary pharmaceutical based in Nepal, launched a new veterinary drug ‘Melox’ with the objective of saving endangered vultures in Nepal and South Asia, the pharmaceutical said in a press release on Saturday. Melox contains meloxicam, an anti-inflammatory drug that is likely to have fewer side effects than diclofenac. Diclofenac causes kidney failure and mortality in vultures. Vultures come into contact with diclofenac while they feed on the carcasses of treated animals. — HNS

Nuwakot: On the occasion of its silver jubilee, the Nuwakot-based Naya Ruprekha weekly on Saturday felicitated 18 journalists. A journalist and the member of High-level Investigation Commission, Harihar Birahi, handed over the felicitation letters to the journalists.
