Lightning claims two

CHARIKOT: Two persons were killed when lightning struck at Kabre Village Development Committee in Dolakha on Monday evening. According to locals, the deceased have been identified as Padam Prasad Dhungel, 55, and Chitra Bahadur Dahal, 48, of Kabre-4, Sisire. Radha Krishna Dahal and Hari Bahadur BK were seriously injured in the incident. The duo are undergoing treatment at a health post, said the Maoist party office secretary Sujan. — HNS

Kathmandu: The visiting European delegation, headed by Neena Gill, on Tuesday met the leaders of political parties, including CPN-UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal in their mission to assess the new political scene in Nepal. The delegation will hold a press conference on Friday. — HNS

Woman beaten up

RAJBIRAJ: A 45-year-old woman, Suraji Devi Sardar, of Jagatpur Village Development Committee-6 was beaten up on the charge of being a witch on Monday. According to a local human rights activist, Prakash Kumar Khatiwada, the family of Chinta Devi Sardar, 18, beat up Suraji when two local shamans claimed that Chinta Devi had fallen ill because of Suraji Devi’s witchcraft. The victim filed a complaint at the Area Police Office, Kanchanpur on Tuesday. — HNS
