Property looted

BIRGUNJ: A group of two-dozen dacoits looted a house belonging to Nathuni Singh at Viswa Tole of Birgunj sub-metropolitan city on Friday night. The group made away with property worth Rs 300,000 including Rs 250,000 in cash, said the Parsa District Police Office (DPO). “They kept me at gunpoint and looted my property,” Singh said. Earlier in the day, Singh’s son Sushil had managed to escape from the kidnappers. The kidnappers had warned the Singh family of great loss because Sushil had escaped without paying the ransom they had demanded. Ishwor Karki, inspector in the Parsa DPO said the investigation is underway. — HNS

Man kills wife in Dang

TULSIPUR: A man in Laxmipur VDC of Dang district killed his wife using a sharp weapon on Friday. According to the District Police Office, Dang, Raju Chaudhari of Dandagaun of Laxmipur VDC- 7 attacked his wife Ramkali with a sharp weapon. She died on the spot. Chaudhary confessed his crime before the police and the body was brought for post-mortem, police said. The District Police Office has taken Chaudhary into custody. Chaudhary said his wife was having illicit relations with another man. — RSS

Eye infection

TULSIPUR: The number of people affected by eye inflammation has increased as more and more people are visiting the Rapti Eye Hospital, Rachhachaur. Some 60 patients visit the hospital daily, and the number of women is larger. The disease spreads from dirty water, said eye specialist Lal Bahadur Chaudhari. Patients are told to use clean water to control the epidemic. Some 581 patients visited the hospital this week and some 213 were treated in its Ghorahi Centre. — RSS

Directives to VDC men

BAGLUNG: Baglung District Development Committee has directed all VDC secretaries of the district to come back to their offices. VDC secretaries were issued directives to take charge in concerned VDCs in the changed political context, said Local Development Officer of Baglung, Kumar Dahal. All VDC secretaries have been residing over the headquarters for the past four years due to security reasons. Locals are compelled to go to headquarters to look for secretaries. There has been an understanding between seven political parties and the Maoists to allow VDC secretaries to take charge in their stations. — RSS
